What to expect
Created in 1570, the Christkindelsmärik (market of the Infant Jesus) is today the oldest Christmas market in Europe. Every year in November, the city becomes the capital of Christmas and welcomes 2 million visitors. You'll walk through the market and enjoy the famous flashing lights of the Great Christmas Tree in Place Kléber and discover the Alsatian culture. You'll taste culinary specialities (hot wine, Pretzl, sauerkraut, kugelhopf…), get your holidays shopping done with typical souvenirs such as religious statuettes, handmade toys but also tablecloth, napkins, decorations for the tree, jewelry…
