Erlebnisse in Belfry of Bruges
A UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of the city the Belfry of Bruges truly stands out from the rest.
Soaring at more than 80 metres, this Gothic spire is perched in the heart of Bruges' historic centre. Built in 1240, the Belfry of Bruges was added to the market square when Bruges became an important centre for Flemish cloth, making this area thrive.
It would serve as a lookout point for incoming fires and other dangers as well as housing the treasury and the municipal archives.
Take a step back in time as you walk around the market square. Visitors love to sit back, relax and sip on a drink as they admire the tower overlooking the area. Meandering through the cobblestone plaza you can treat your eyes to some of the best architecture in Belgium. Vibrantly coloured manors with bustling covered market stalls line the area, as horse-drawn carriages and locals on bicycles whizz past the market. At the centre of the square stands the statue of Jan Breydel and Pieter de Coninck.
The public can access the Belfry of Bruges. After climbing up the 366 steps, visitors will be rewarded with eye-catching views of the city and romantic settings, ideal for anyone looking to take those Instagram-worthy pictures.
